ROME — Shorter University’s Online Master of Accountancy degree program has been ranked No. 9 among the “Top 25 Accelerated Online Master’s in Accounting Degrees 2017” by College Values Online.

“Our degree programs and academic offerings have received numerous recognitions in the past 18 months for the quality of the education offered and the value it represents to students,” said Shorter University President Don Dowless. “This list ranks us ahead of several large public colleges, and we are honored to have been so recognized.

“According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the job outlook for certified public accountants is expected to see much faster than average employment growth over the next decade. Our Christ-centered education offers high-quality, affordable training in this growing field and also equips students with a strong ethical foundation for their future careers.”

The College Values Online article states, “While the number of online programs in accounting has grown significantly in the past five years, many of the programs are still only available at a part-time pace. This means they often take two or more years to complete.

“The accounting programs here can all be completed in a maximum of 18 months… In the fast-paced world of global business, nobody wants to take too long off work to earn their degree and begin their advancement.”

Shorter University’s online Master of Accountancy program is 100 percent online and can be completed in as little as 12 months. The program is designed to provide professional preparation for the accounting industry for individuals with an undergraduate degree in accounting or a related discipline.
