DULUTH — Response to the May 23 Unholy Tour has resulted in a full bus for the event designed to raise awareness of sex trafficking in the Atlanta area.
Georgia Public Service Commissioner Tim Echols hosts several of the tours throughout the year for political leaders and others. Georgia Baptist Mission Board Public Affairs serves as a co-sponsor of the event departing from the Missions and Ministry Center in Duluth.
Georgia Baptist Public Affairs Representative Mike Griffin, who has attended six Tours, called them among the most jarring events he's experienced.
"The fact that this tour fills up every year shows that our ministry leaders recognize that this is a very important issue on which to be educated," he said. "It’s a big encouragement to the people who are going to be speaking that there’s interest in the problems they see first-hand. The urgency to combat trafficking will intensify as a result of these tours."
Last year's Unholy Tour featured speakers from various organizations rescuing others from human trafficking. Among them were a former stripper, law enforcement, and those offering coverup tattoo services to help victims who had been "branded" by their pimp or madam.
A bus with 46 attendees and ten speakers will depart the Missions and Ministry Center the evening of May 23. Index Content Editor Myriah Snyder will cover the Tour for a future article.
