Scripture for today: 1 Tim. 1:12
A few months ago, my children gave me a homemade picture. The title was “Eleven Reasons We Love Daddy.” They had written down how I played with them, spent time with them, and showed them love. But my favorite reason was the third one, which stated, “he is strong and powerful.”
I am glad that my kids do not compare me to Arnold Schwarzenegger. In reality, they do not know that I am not all that strong. They just know that I am stronger than they are, and they are thankful that I am strong for them.
I may not be the strongest father, but we have a heavenly Father who is stronger than anyone. Even better, he has given that strength to us through his Son. Paul wrote in 1 Tim. 1:12, “I thank him who has given me strength, Christ Jesus our Lord, because he judged me faithful, appointing me to his service.”
You may not be the strongest man in the world, but in Christ, you have a strength beyond compare. God has called us to a marvelous ministry, and He has given us everything we need to accomplish the task.
You may not feel strong, but you have the strength of Christ, and that is truly something strong and powerful, indeed.
Father, thank you for being strong. Thank you for giving me your strength so that I can serve you. Help me to rely on your power each day and not my own.
