DULUTH – The deadline for Georgia Baptists to nominate outstanding high school seniors as candidates for the Georgia Baptist Student Achievement Award is Nov. 1.

Thirty scholarships await students who are active members of Georgia Baptist churches with plans to attend one of the three Georgia Baptist colleges – Brewton-Parker College, Shorter University, and Truett McConnell University.

The scholarship is made possible by the Education Commission, in cooperation with the three colleges and is transferrable between the three schools.

For a student to be eligible, they must be graduating at the end of the current school year (May 2021).

A student must be nominated by a Georgia Baptist pastor or other church staff member. After receiving nominations, the Education Commission office will send applications to all candidates. A statewide committee will review the applications and select recipients in January.

Academic achievement is the primary consideration, but church and community involvement are also considered.

Pastors and church staff desiring to nominate a student, can visit www.gabaptist.org/educationcommission. A downloadable, printable form is also available at this site to mail or fax nominations, if that method is preferred. Call (800) 746-4422 ext. 232 or (770) 936-5232 for more information.
