First Baptist Church on the Square in LaGrange honored Pastor Paul Baxter and his wife Joanna on May 10 after his announcement of retirement following more than 30 years as pastor. Baxter emigrated to America from England as a child and attended the University of Georgia, later earning degrees from Yale University and Southern Seminary.
“Most of our churches are declining numerically, and the ones plateaued are struggling financially. Members are getting older and with lower incomes it’s tough to find pastors – especially younger ones – to stay here.”
Where are the bright, conservative legislators we elected to represent us on issues like this? Why are they not standing up? Perhaps it is the fear that we won’t be able to host the Super Bowl, or bring Volvo to our state. If that’s it, then our values threshold is pretty low.
