To take pride and to be prideful are two different things. Know the difference.
“When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom.” – Proverbs 11:2
Pride is such an interesting thing. Why, you may ask? We should all take pride in what we do. This means that we should be intentional about doing and being the best version of ourselves. However, to be prideful can mean destruction because it brings about arrogance and thinking more highly of themselves than they should.
Pride will have us insensitive to others and blind to ourselves. Pride will make us think we are good, and everyone else needs to change. Pride will even make us delusional. However, humility will open our eyes to see room for improvement which will in turn make us better. There is nothing wrong with trying to be great, but when it’s more about you being a better you just so others will lift you up and acknowledge you, then you are being prideful. Let’s not be prideful, let’s just take pride in what we do.
