My wife, Sheri, and I were walking out of a grocery store a few years ago and saw a lady in front of us walking with a severe limp, aided by a cane.
You could tell every step was difficult, not to mention painful. Once outside, I asked if I could help her and she graciously accepted my offer. Once arriving at her SUV, I unloaded her cart and expressed my sympathy for her difficulty.
“I had a stroke five years ago,” she responded, “and it has been one of the greatest things that has ever happened to me. The peace, joy, the nearness to God I experience every day words cannot express. God has performed one miracle after another in my life and my family. God has been so good to me!”
In a world filled with suffering and pain, how reassuring to know that we serve a God who can take the direst circumstances and use them for His glory. Psalm 107:1 says, “O give thanks unto the LORD for He is good.”
