The Lord walks with you

Scripture for today: Psalm 23
In the tv mini-series “Comanche Moon,” there is a scene where Comanche Indians attack the city and among those killed were the preacher. One young lady, “Pearly,” is talking to her husband and says, “We are going to have to have a preacher. You would make a good preacher.”
To that, her husband replies, “Oh no, Pearly… I couldn’t be a preacher… The only verses I know are the ones about them green pastures.”
He was referring to Psalm 23, which says, “He leads me through green pastures.” The 23rd Psalm is one of the most beautiful and best-recognized verses in the Bible. In it David, the earthly shepherd, talks about his relationship with Jehovah God, the heavenly shepherd. David says that the Lord guides him, comforts him, and protects him.
The Lord will guide us as well. The Lord will comfort us and protect us. Maybe you are going through a time of adversity, perhaps even an anxious time. The Lord, the heavenly shepherd, wants to walk with us. He wants to guide us, but we have to let Him.
This doesn’t mean that He takes our problems away, but instead walks with us through them. Just as the Lord walked with David through the valley of the shadow of death, He walks with us.
