Throw the Flowers

Today’s Scripture: 1 Chronicles 16:8
If you have ever observed Olympic figure skating, it truly is amazing to see how these individuals glide around the ice while performing twirls and jumps. Skating is not the manliest of sports, but I can appreciate the athleticism required to do it well. I have no idea what a triple salchow is, but I know that if I tried to accomplish one, I would end up with a triple fracture of some body part.
Whenever a figure skater performs an exceptional routine, the attendees in the arena throw flowers onto the ice as an expression of their appreciation for the performance. They are proclaiming the greatness of performer’s accomplishments.
In 1 Chronicles 16:8, we are instructed to “give thanks to the LORD; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples.” The Hebrew word for giving thanks is “yadah.” It literally means to throw, or cast, something. Like an amazed spectator, we are to cast our thanksgiving toward God. We are telling Him and those around us how spectacular His deeds are.
Go ahead and throw God some flowers today; let everyone know just how awesome He is.
Today’s Prayer: Father, thank you for all your amazing works. May I make your wonderful deeds known to those around me.
