ROME — Trudy Cathy White, daughter of Chick-fil-A founder Truett Cathy, was the featured speaker at Shorter University’s chapel service March 30. White serves as director of the WinShape Camps for Girls and, with her husband John, established Lifeshape, Inc., which resources Impact 360 Institute and Lifeshape International.

Speaking before a capacity crowd in Shorter’s Brookes Chapel, Mrs. White encouraged the students to live lives based on “a formula for significance.”

“Deciding who you want to be is of far greater importance than focusing on what you will do,” she said.

White suggested students focus on two key principles for life: “These two principles are (1) Manage what’s in your hand and (2) Give away as much as you can.” The first principle, she explained, focuses on stewardship and recognizing, first, that “Everything we have comes from God” and, second, that “it is our God-given responsibility to manage these things.” The second principle is defined by generosity, which she said includes cultivating “an attitude of gratitude” and “thinking less of oneself and more of others.”

White currently serves on the Board of Directors for Lifeshape, Impact 360 Institute, Associação Lifeshape Brasil, and WinShape Foundation. She is a speaker, an ambassador for Chick-fil-A, and the author of Along the Way, a heart-warming collection of autobiographical stories.
