Western Heights Baptist in LaGrange has announced the retirement of Steve Vickery after 29 years of ministry at the church.

During his ministry with Western Heights, Vickery served in various capacities, including administration, children’s services, music ministry, education, outreach, and senior adults. He is widely known as the “go to” person at the church, knowing where to find, how to fix, or who to call.

Over 46 years Vickery served at Poplar Springs Baptist Church and River Bend Baptist Church, both in Gainesville, Atco Baptist Church in Cartersville, and Bethesda Baptist Church in Burleson, Texas. For 35 years he has also performed with the Sons of Jubal, a male chorus composed of music ministers of Georgia Baptist churches.

Vickery has been married to Wanda Hudson Vickery since 1974. They have a daughter, Andrea Malone (husband, Marc) of LaGrange, and a son, Michah, serving with his wife, Blair, in the mission field of Southeast Asia. They enjoy camping and spending time with their six grandchildren.
