Clark Bunch is celebrating five years at Unity Baptist Church in Plainville. Bunch, who began pastoring Unity on Oct. 1, 2014, is a graduate of Shorter College (now University) and a native of Calhoun. He and Teresa have been married for 22 years. He blogs here.
Piney Grove Baptist in Fortson celebrated 175 years Oct. 6. Gerald Harris, former editor of the Christian Index was the guest preacher. In May, the church celebrated Pastor Mickey Adams’ 25th year as their pastor.

Fred Overton, an evangelist well known for his seminars and booklets on heaven, Revelation, and foundational truths of Scripture, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 27. He was 80.
Overton came to know Christ under the ministry of Charles Stanley at First Baptist Atlanta. While at First Baptist, Overton, Murray State University’s former head basketball coach, began his evangelistic ministry, developing and teaching his seminars. He also taught Sunday School at First Baptist and attended Luther Rice Seminary.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Patsy Overton of Cumming; son and daughter-in-law, John and Mallory Overton of Atlanta; a brother; a sister; and a grandson. His funeral was held at First Baptist Atlanta on Oct. 30.
