MOUNT VERNON — Brewton-Parker College has posted significant jumps in fall semester enrollment in three critical areas at its main campus.
The number of total Mount Vernon students, both new and returning, is at 420 – a 15 percent increase compared to 366 in 2015. The college also reported 209 new Mount Vernon day students, a 25 percent increase compared to 166 in 2015. And, the number of Move on When Ready Program students is 217, a forty-eight percent increase compared to 147 in 2015.
The announcement was made on Aug. 31 by Chris Dooley, vice president of enrollment services.
President Steve Echols stated his pleasure with the high numbers.
“We are very excited about the large increase in enrollment this fall,” Echols said. “We are appreciative of the hard work of the admissions department and the entire BPC team in achieving this great leap forward. It is a tremendous affirmation of the bright future that is ahead for Brewton-Parker College.
“The good news is not only the amazing 25 percent increase in new students, but also that as a group they reflect an increase in the level of the academic qualifications to be successful in college. Most of all we are grateful for such a large number of students who are coming to BPC because they desire to be at a Christian college and to embrace the distinctiveness of our mission.”
Recruitment efforts for fall 2017 are already underway. The college’s next Open House event will be Saturday, Sept. 24.
