Senior Pastor Job Description: Senior Pastor – First Baptist Church of Haynesville, GA (located: between Perry and Hawkinsville, GA) Position Overview: First Baptist Church of Haynesville located in South Houston County is prayerfully seeking a Senior Pastor to lead our multigenerational church of approximately 350 active members. The Senior Pastor will be responsible for leading and shepherding the church community, preaching Bible-based sermons, casting vision in fulfillment of the church’s mission, developing discipleship strategies and various ministries that foster spiritual growth and outreach. Requirements: • A man who believes and supports the full Baptist Faith and Message, June 2000, as a statement of Faith. • Prefer a graduate of an accredited seminary or divinity school. • Prefer at least five (5) years’ experience as Pastor of a Southern Baptist Church. • Conforms to the Biblical qualifications of a pastor as outlined in two primary New Testament passages, 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9. • Conforms to the Biblical qualifications of a church leader found in Luke 22:25-27 and 1 Peter 5:3 • Has experience in managing church staff as a primary supervisor and administrator. • Has successfully shared leadership responsibilities with staff, deacons, committee chairs, teachers, and others. • Has regularly participated in association and state Southern Baptist organizations. Has a record of encouraging church members to engage in active participation in these activities. • Has experience supporting missions at the local, state, national and international levels. • Relocate to South Houston County, GA. • Family should be active and involved in the church. Responsibilities: • Lead the church in planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and evaluating the total program of the church. • Plan and conduct the worship services, prepare, and deliver sermons, lead in observance of the ordinances of scriptural Baptism and Holy Communion. • Lead the church in an effective program of witnessing and a caring outreach ministry for the church and community to reach the lost and the unchurched. • Actively and regularly visit members and prospects in their homes and in hospitals. • Conduct counseling sessions, perform weddings, and conduct funerals. • Serve as ex-officio member of all church committees. • Function as moderator of all church business meetings. • Cooperate with local, associational, state, and other Christian leaders in matters of mutual interest and concern and represent the church in local civic matters. • Provide supervision and direction to all Frist Baptist Church of Haynesville employees and exercise the authority to administer corrective action to church staff when necessary. • Shall conform to all requirements concerning the Senior Pastor found in the church by-laws in Article 2 Sections 1-4.
