Former Georgia Baptist minister and chaplain Doyle Eugene Oliver died in Morrow on March 7 after a long struggle with dementia and Parkinson’s Disease. He was 79.
Oliver served as minister of education and administration at First Baptist in Forest Park as well as a chaplain at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta. He and his wife, Shirley, had been members of First Baptist in Morrow for 20 years, where he had served as Sunday School director and his wife directed English as a Second Language classes.
A graduate of Southwestern Seminary, Oliver had previously been a specialist in children’s education for the Tennessee Baptist Convention; minister of education at First Baptist, Vero Beach, FL; minister to children at First Baptist Tallahassee, FL; and minister of education at Delaney Street Baptist in Orlando, FL.
