ATLANTA — Anthony Wilson, pastor of Church 180 in Hampton, has been diagnosed simultaneously with COVID-19 and pneumonia, he confirmed with The Christian Index today.

Wilson entered Emory Hillandale Hospital in Lithonia at 2 a.m. Monday morning struggling with what would eventually be the pneumonia diagnosis. He had tested positive for COVID-19 on May 4.

In a text with The Index, he said he was currently focusing on strengthening his lungs while recovering. The initial news of his diagnosis was shared through the Facebook post of a friend on May 11.

In an article last year with The Index, Wilson shared his story of serving as a pastor in addition to being one of two clinical chaplains on staff at the Georgia state correctional facility in Jackson alongside fellow Georgia Baptist pastor Bernard Miller. Currently, Wilson also serves as president of the African American Fellowship of Georgia Baptists and is a member of the Georgia Baptist Convention Executive Committee.
