2024 Christmas prayer tours are scheduled again for the state Capitol

Posted

Visitors will once again have the opportunity to get a close-up look at the Christmas decorations at the Georgia State Capitol during a series of Christmas prayer tours scheduled starting December 4th.

The public is welcome to join these days. These prayer tours, organized by the Georgia Baptist Mission Board’s Public Affairs ministry, are designed to give show participants how to be informed about what happens at the Capitol and to pray for those who are making public policy decisions.

The two-hour tours are set for December 4, 17, and 18, and will begin at 10 a.m. each day. Registration is required and is limited to approximately the first 25 people who sign up each day.

The tour will make its way through each of the four floors of the Capitol, stopping at various points along the way, such as the governor’s office, legislative offices, committee rooms, and the House and Senate chambers. At each location, visitors will learn what goes on in that area of the Capitol. It is vital that Georgia Baptists understand the issues and the processes at play in the Capitol.

Through these tours, citizens will learn about our state leaders and explore the issues they face. This educational component is very important!

The focus is beyond just the decorations of the season. It is really about seeing the spiritual needs of the elected officials and policymakers who work in the Capitol.

At each stop, a time of prayer will be given for Georgia’s governmental leaders as they prepare for the legislative session that begins in January. Prayer is crucial, because through it we can be reminded that God uses prayer to make a difference in people’s lives.

It is harder for people to pray effectively if they don’t know who they are praying for, or if they do not understand the nature of the issues they are praying over.

Registration is now open. Please make plans now to join us for this year’s tours!
