Baptists join other religious groups in asking high court to reverse Roe vs. Wade

WASHINGTON – The Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission has joined other religious groups in filing a legal brief asking anew that the U.S. Supreme Court to ban abortions.

The ERLC signed a “friend-of-the-court brief” on Tuesday that calls for the reversal of the infamous Roe vs. Wade decision that legalized abortion nationwide in 1973.

The brief was filed in pending a case involving Mississippi’s ban on abortions of unborn children whose gestational age is more than 15 weeks.

The high court had announced in May that it would schedule arguments for the case later this year and is expected to rule by next summer. Pro-life advocates are hoping for a favorable ruling.
