Commentary: Time to register for this year’s Georgia Baptist Pastors Day at the Capitol

Posted

Once again, Georgia Baptists will host pastors from across the state at the Georgia Capitol on Feb. 6, 2025, for the 11th annual Pastors Day event. Pastors and ministry leaders will hear from several leaders in the legislative and faith communities.

The event will again combine the annual Legislative Prayer Breakfast and Pastors Day. Everything begins at 7:30 AM and ends at 2:00 PM in the Floyd Room at the Sloppy Floyd building across the street at from the Capitol in Atlanta.

As usual, this event has increased in attendance and enthusiasm for the opportunity for ministry leaders and laymen to discover how to navigate the legislative landscape for the sake of advancing a witness for the gospel in the public square.

Pastors are also invited to ask their state legislators to join them at the event. This event is not just for pastors, but all legislators, pastors’ wives, and ministry leaders. They are invited to discover how to engage the legislative process of state government from a Biblical worldview.

Following breakfast, attendees will be able to take a tour of the State Capitol before lunch. This will give citizens an opportunity to possibly meet their legislator and learn how to navigate the Capitol for future visits.

This year’s speakers will also include Benjamin Watson, vice president of Strategic Relationships for The Human Coalition; Lauren Eden, national ambassador and Georgia advocate for the Abortion Survivors Network; Brad Hughes, director of Governor’s Office Outreach and Public Affairs Committee chairman for the Mission Board; and Ed Setzler, Georgia state senator for the 37th district.

We are also looking forward to Rhon Carter (GBMB Worship and Music Catalyst) leading the music and worship time during the Legislative Prayer Breakfast.

Also, in addition to our speakers, the GBMB Public Affairs Committee will recognize the 2024 Legislators of the Year for their service and support. It is so important to recognize and stand with leaders at the State Capitol who are helping us on social and moral issues facing our state.

We also encourage you to invite your legislator: https://www.legis.ga.gov/find-my-legislator to breakfast FREE OF CHARGE! There is no cost for registration, but both breakfast and lunch will be offered as add-ons for a small charge.

Those interested in more information and attending this free event can register here: https://gabaptist.org/event/pastors-day-at-the-georgia-state-capitol-2025/ . February 3rd is the deadline for registration.

Please invite your friends and ministry leaders to attend this inspiring event and be encouraged to live for Christ in the public square!
