ALPHARETTA, Ga. — A new endowment created through the Georgia Baptist Foundation will provide ongoing support for gospel work in Georgia through the Cooperative Program. The Dasher Ministry Fund honors the faithful stewardship of the late Joe V. “Bud” Dasher Jr. and his wife, Audrey Dasher of Valdosta. It was established after the maturation of a charitable remainder trust administered by the Foundation.
According to Georgia Baptist Foundation Vice President Pamela Mills, the Dasher Ministry Fund was established as a perpetual endowment with assets of $544,430.02. The fund will generate annual income with a portion designated to the Cooperative Program of the Georgia Baptist Mission Board. Mills described the gift as a lasting memorial to the Dashers’ “faithful support of Kingdom work and generous Christian stewardship.”
The endowment continues a pattern of service reflected in the Dashers’ lives. Bud Dasher, a lifelong Valdosta resident, served in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee during World War II. Friends and family remembered him as quick to help others, often in ways that were never publicly known. A longtime member of Northside Baptist Church, he was also known for sharing his Christian faith at every opportunity.
Audrey Dasher was remembered as a “sweet Christian lady,” known for her ever-present smile and servant’s heart. She invested deeply in her family and church life and remained a faithful member of Northside Baptist Church.
“We’re deeply grateful for the Dashers’ faithful stewardship and for the way this gift will keep advancing gospel work for years to come,” said Thomas Hammond, executive director of the GBMB. “Our commitment is to steward this gift with integrity and purpose, using it to strengthen gospel ministry across Georgia.”
The Dashers’ example is also a reminder to Georgia Baptists that planned giving can be one of the most enduring ways to invest in the Great Commission. A will, trust, or charitable gift arrangement can provide for loved ones while also helping support gospel ministry for future generations. The Georgia Baptist Foundation can help families and churches think through giving options that align with their values and long-term ministry goals.
