Editorial: Kudos to Georgia Baptists who pray for God to match pastors to churches

The Christian Index is so excited to play a part in helping Georgia Baptist churches find pastors when their pulpits are vacated.

We’ve heard heartwarming stories of how the Lord has matched pastors to churches via our classifieds section.

An important part of that has been a classifieds newsletter we started about a year ago that lists churches looking for pastors or other staff members.

That newsletter, of course, is a service to our churches and pastors, but it’s also a call to prayer for 1.4 million Georgia Baptists to raise those churches to God during such a critical time in their histories.

To keep Georgia Baptists reminded to pray for these churches, the Index does all it can to keep them front and center. Besides the newsletter, we post them to social media. And we keep them on the Index website for all to see.

For more than 200 years, the Index has been a steady, reliable, informative friend to Georgia Baptists. It’s the place where Georgia Baptists come together in community to learn about prayer concerns. Sometimes those concerns involve human tragedies around the world. Sometimes they’re moral issues playing out here at home. And sometimes they’re churches searching for staff members.

Knowing that Georgia Baptists are a people of prayer, the Index takes seriously its responsibility of bringing matters of prayer to their attention.

With readers in literally every community in Georgia, in pretty much every state in the nation, and in more than 130 countries of the world, the prayer circle is indeed a large one.

It's encouraging for churches to know our readers are joining them in prayer as they search for pastors or staff members.

Thank you for praying.
