Foster named evangelism catalyst as Georgia Baptists intensify gospel focus

ALPHARETTA, Ga. — With evangelism gaining renewed momentum across Georgia, the Georgia Baptist Mission Board has named Steve Foster as its new evangelism catalyst, a strategic role that had remained vacant since JJ Washington’s transition to the North American Mission Board.

"I am excited to announce Steve Foster is moving from evangelism Consultant to serve as our Evangelism Catalyst. Steve is no stranger to Georgia Baptists when it comes to evangelism. He has served Georgia faithfully and relentlessly, exhorting and encouraging pastors and churches to keep evangelism the point of the spear," said Mark Marshall, the GBMB's senior lead strategist for church strengthening.

Foster, a seasoned leader with more than six years of experience as a regional evangelism specialist, has long been known among Georgia Baptists for his passion to equip churches to share the gospel. His new assignment positions him to coordinate and advance evangelism efforts statewide at a time when spiritual harvest is visibly growing.

“The goal is for everyone to pull in the same direction,” Foster said. “We’re working to align strategy, training, and events so that churches have what they need to reach the lost in their communities.”

Foster emphasized that this unified approach is especially important as the Mission Board implements a new statewide evangelism initiative. He will help shape resources and mobilize leaders in support of that effort.

Encouraged by recent reports of increased salvations and baptisms, Foster credited local church pastors for faithfully proclaiming the gospel. “Our pastors have been doing a great job sharing Christ, and we are seeing the results,” he said. “My job is to make sure we build on that momentum and continue reaching the lost with the good news of the gospel.”
