Georgia Baptist Mission Board adds 3 mobilizers to support and encourage pastors' wives

SUWANEE, Ga. — The Georgia Baptist Mission Board has added three mobilizers to its Pastor Wellness Team to enhance services to ministry wives.

“The mission of Georgia Baptist Pastor Wellness is to advance the gospel by serving pastors and their families,” said Chris Reynolds, the Mission Board strategist who leads the initiative. “One of the key ways we accomplish this is through our ministry wives’ initiatives.”

The Mission Board has a long history of caring for ministry wives, knowing the importance of their roles and the stresses they often face.

The mobilizers were added after the retirement of Mary Cox, who, for 20 years, led the Mission Board’s ministry to the  wives of pastors and other church leaders.

“We have sought the Lord on the next best steps,” Reynolds said. “And today, I am excited to announce that we have a clear direction.”

That direction was to put three experienced ministry wives on contract as mobilizers whose jobs will be to support their peers in the regions they serve.

Jennifer Williams, a Valdosta resident, will serve in south Georgia. She is the wife of David Williams, a former pastor now serving as director of Baptist Collegiate Ministries at Valdosta State University.

Suzette Greene, a Douglasville resident, will serve in central Georgia. She is the wife of Steven Greene, a longtime pastor now serving as lead pastor of Beulah Church in Douglasville.

Lauren Walker, a Cartersville resident, will serve in north Georgia. She is the wife of Kyle Walker, pastor at Cartersville First Baptist Church and former preaching professor and vice president at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

“These ladies are committed to Christ, their families, and serving ministry wives across our state through one-on-one relationships, retreats and associational events,” Reynolds said. “They will help facilitate the ongoing pastor wellness efforts.  Please pray for these ladies and welcome them to our team.”

In their own words:

Jennifer Williams: I am a native of Thomasville. My husband, David, and I have served South Georgia for the past 10 years. We have been married for 12 years and have two little boys, Davis (8) and Daniel (6). David pastored a small, rural church in southwest GA until we moved to Valdosta last summer. He is now serving as the BCM Campus Minister at VSU. Our days are filled with activities, ministry and life discipleship! We stay constantly busy, and mostly laughing with these college students in our lives. I also homeschool our boys, and serve in our local church through the music and kids ministry.

Suzette Green: My husband Steven and I have been married 15 years. We have 4 children - Adalyn (11), Samuel (10), Ezra (8), and Josiah (6). Steven is the Lead Pastor at Beulah Church where we have served for the last year and half. I serve our church in the worship ministry, women’s ministry and occasionally the children’s ministry. I homeschool our 4 children and love being able to watch them grow and learn. When I’m not teaching our kiddos or serving at the church, you can find me enjoying a book, working on a crochet project, or sipping on coffee.

Lauren Walker: I am married to my high school sweetheart, Kyle for 15 years. He has served as the pastor at Cartersville First Baptist in Cartersville, GA since 2019. Before coming to GA, we lived in TX where Kyle served Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary as a VP and Preaching Professor. My heart for ministry wives has grown as I have seen the joys and struggles women experience as they walk the road of ministry. I enjoy walking beside and encouraging women as they embrace this journey called ministry life. In addition, I homeschool our children and teach 2nd grade at a University Model school where our children attend 2 days a week.
