SUWANEE, Ga. — Wade Lott, former senior pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church in Hiawasee, Ga., has joined the Pastor Wellness ministry of the Georgia Baptist Mission Board. Lott will serve as pastor wellness catalyst for the Northeast region. Andy Childs, who formerly held that role, was named assistant executive director of the GBMB last month.
“I am incredibly excited to be joining the Mission Board in the area of Pastor Wellness,” said Lott. “It is a very bittersweet decision for [my wife] Tammy and me because we love the people of Macedonia so much, but we feel absolutely convinced that this is God's calling upon our lives for this season.”
Lott, who has been in ministry for 33 years, is eager for the opportunity to serve and minister to fellow pastors. “I love pastors, ministry leaders, and their families! I have experienced a lot of the same struggles that they go through while serving churches and I look forward to being able to celebrate with them when things are going great, and to come alongside them when things become a struggle,” he said.
Chris Reynolds, lead strategist for pastor wellness, said, “Serving pastors, ministry leaders, and their families isn’t just a mission—it’s a calling to come alongside those who give so much of themselves to others. Wade embodies that calling with excellence.”
He continued, “Wade’s addition to the team is more than exciting—it’s a game-changer for pastors and ministry leaders across Northeast Georgia. His dedication to their well-being inspires us all.”
Lott had served as senior pastor at Macedonia since 2019. During his tenure, average attendance grew 15% and 114 believers were baptized. The church’s emphasis on missions has been evident, with members traveling to Peru, Romania, Japan, Puerto Rico, Kentucky, Louisiana, and Georgia. In 2024, Macedonia gave a record Lottie Moon Christmas Offering of $86,550, and that number is not final.
Prior to serving at Macedonia, Lott was the Associational Missionary for the Tugalo Baptist Association for almost seven years. In his 33 years of ministry, he has served churches in Georgia and Mississippi in the areas of music, youth, and education ministry. For three years, Wade had a personal ministry called Into the Deep Outdoors that was organized to specifically target outdoorsmen with the gospel.
Lott has served on the associational level as the Vice Moderator and a member of the Administrative Team of the Tugalo Baptist Association as well as the Associational Music leader for the Lebanon Baptist Association in Hattiesburg, Miss. He has served the Georgia Baptist Convention on the Credentials Committee, two years as Chairman of the Nominating Committee, and on the Board of Trustees for the Georgia Baptist Children’s Homes.
Lott is a graduate of William Carey College with a Bachelor of Music degree, a graduate of Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Arts degree, and a graduate of Covington Theological Seminary with a Doctor of Ministry degree. Lott is married to Tammy and together they have two children and six grandchildren.
“Wade’s deep experience ensures that pastors and ministry leaders in Northeast Georgia will continue to be supported and strengthened,” Reynolds said.
“Everyone in ministry needs someone that they can talk with and trust to be with them through every aspect of ministry,” Lott declared. “I look forward to being that person for the Northeast Region.”
