Georgia State Police reports 21 traffic fatalities over Labor Day holiday

ATLANTA — Georgia State Police reported 21 fatalities in vehicle accidents over the Labor Day holiday travel period. State troopers investigated eight fatal crashes, in which nine people died, between Friday, Sept. 1, at 6:00 p.m., and Monday, Sept. 4, at 11:59 p.m.

In addition, local agencies reported 12 accident-related deaths. The Atlanta Police Department and South Fulton Police Department each reported one death, while the DeKalb County Police Department reported four, and the Gwinnett County Police Department investigated six fatalties.
 
In addition to fatal crashes, state troopers investigated more than 300 crashes that resulted in nearly 200 injuries. Troopers and Motor Carrier Compliance Division Officers made over 16,000 traffic stops, issued more than 9,300 citations, and over 11,600 warnings.
