Baptist Global Response, a Southern Baptist-based humanitarian aid organization, urges churches to participate in the upcoming Global Hunger Sunday on Oct. 9.
"The church in the United States is critical to our ability to respond to massive hunger needs globally," said Jeff Palmer, BGR executive director. "Through the prayers of the saints for those suffering, the gifts from our membership that fund our ministries, and the partnership of Christians who join us in hunger projects, BGR brings a wider influence of Southern Baptist and kingdom resources to those in great need."
An information kit through BGR includes videos, posters, and bulletin inserts for churches wanting to take part. Global Hunger Sunday is the promotional day for Global Hunger Relief.
Global Hunger Relief, formerly known as the World Hunger Fund, remains the focus of BGR. However, since its founding in 2006 the organization has worked with other humanitarian organizations to respond to crisis and natural disasters placing others in harm's way. Last year BGR provided food to 173,000 people.
