DALLAS — GuideStone Financial Resources Chief Investment Officer David Spika has announced his intention to retire at the end of the year.
Brandon Pizzurro, who has worked at GuideStone since 2017 and is most recently director of public investments, will succeed Spika.
“David has done a tremendous job positioning us for this day,” GuideStone President Hance Dilbeck said. “He worked diligently to integrate Investments as a true partner to the rest of the enterprise while helping to develop new investment distribution channels through GuideStone Investment Services, GuideStone Advisors and intermediary sales. Under his leadership, GuideStone enhanced its faith-based investing strategies to include shareholder advocacy, proxy voting and impact investing. He also worked to elevate GuideStone’s visibility through media appearances on CNBC, Fox Business and elsewhere while empowering other members of our Investments team to honor the Lord through their work.
“We have a deep bench from which to draw as we seek to grow our momentum in the marketplace. He has built a team that ensures we will not miss an opportunity to continue to serve our members and ministry partners. We respect David’s contributions to GuideStone and appreciate all of his efforts to advance GuideStone’s mission.”
Dilbeck said Pizzurro’s career has led to this moment.
“Brandon is a consummate professional who understands our members and ministry partners,” Dilbeck said. “He is ready to step into this this strategic role and will serve GuideStone well.”
Prior to joining GuideStone, Pizzurro spent 13-years in the investment industry, working at Morgan Stanley, 1st Global and First Command Financial Services. He is a graduate of the Hankamer School of Business at Baylor University. He is a Certified Financial Planner professional.
“Brandon is a highly respected leader in the Investments team,” GuideStone Chief Operating Officer Chu Soh said. “We are excited about Brandon’s future and are confident he has the character and professional capacity to lead this team successfully.”
