The Sixth Annual Georgia Baptist Pastors Day at the Capitol will feature guest speaker Mike Huckabee, former Arkansas governor. The event will take place Feb. 18, 2021, in the Floyd Room of the Sloppy Floyd Building, and Mike Griffin, Public Affairs Representative for the Georgia Baptist Mission Board, said pastors, their wives, and church leaders are invited to attend.
“Over the years these have been some phenomenal events,” Griffin said. “They have served as a tremendous source of encouragement to pastors and ministry leaders to get involved as Christians in government and public policy.”
The event will start at 10 a.m. with citizen lobbyist training. Also, legislators and activists who are active at the State Capitol will help inform attendees on reports regarding pending legislation.
Harrison Smith, one of the regional directors for Alliance Defending Freedom, will also speak before lunch. Smith will provide an update on what is happening on the religious liberty front in our nation.
“Georgia Baptists are honored to have former Arkansas State Governor Mike Huckabee as our special guest,” Public Affairs Representative Mike Griffin said.
Before running for state office, Huckabee was a Southern Baptist pastor who preached in Arkansas for 12 years. In 2008, after having served as governor, he ran for president and finished second in the primary. In 2016, he ran for president a second time.
Huckabee currently hosts the TV show “Huckabee” on TBN in each weekend. In addition to appearing on new networks, he is a New York Times bestselling author of 14 books and a frequent speaker for corporate, civic, and non-profit groups all over the world.
At the conclusion of Huckabee’s message and lunch, attendees will have an opportunity to go over to the State Capitol for a time of prayer and to tour the facilities. There will also be an opportunity to talk to attendees on where and how to contact legislators when visiting the Capitol.
“We encourage all our pastors and staff along with their spouses to join us for this encouraging event,” Griffin said. “Any additional ministry leaders from your church are welcome to attend as well with their spouses as well.”

“Because of the pandemic, we will be practicing social distancing, encouraging the mask wearing when necessary, and we will be taking the temperature of all participants entering the room,” Griffin said. “So your safety and health will be of upmost importance. Once again, I want to thank you in advance for your prayers and support as usual these are some very challenging times as we stand for biblical values. This event is planned with keeping in mind the importance of Christians staying involved in these challenging times.”
