Luther Rice granted access to Georgia State Aid programs

LITHONIA, GA. — On Thursday, Dec. 19th, Luther Rice College & Seminary was officially approved by the State of Georgia to participate in Georgia State Aid programs starting Fall 2025. This approval includes HOPE and Zell Scholarships for undergraduate students and High School Dual Enrollment opportunities.

In October, Luther Rice filed a lawsuit to protect the school and its current and future students by requesting that State officials include Luther Rice in Georgia’s student aid programs and to enjoin the officials from excluding the school and its students based on their religious character and exercise. Luther Rice was faced with a choice: maintain its religious mission, degree programs, and commitment to teaching from a Christian worldview, or forfeit its religious character to participate equally with other schools in the State.

Remaining steadfast in its mission and commitment to contend for the faith, Luther Rice successfully secured access to these aid programs, as the State of Georgia agreed to allow Luther Rice access to Georgia State Aid programs. According to Luther Rice President Steven Steinhilber, “This endeavor was not just an opportunity to defend our religious freedom, but it was also an opportunity to demonstrate the value of a Christian education. I commend the State and our partners at Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) for swiftly reaching a solution. I look forward to providing our Georgia residents an affordable biblically based education that is so vital for our time.” Over the coming months, we'll provide more information concerning access, eligibility, and application to the programs.

Luther Rice College & Seminary, located in Metro Atlanta, is a Christian, private, nonprofit college and seminary that offers undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral-level degree programs 100% online or in combination with on-campus classes.
