ALPHARETTA, Ga. — Melanie Ford has been named Ministry Wives Coordinator for the Pastor Wellness team at the Georgia Baptist Mission Board, effective Jan. 1.
In her new role, Ford will help lead and strengthen ministry to wives of pastors and ministry leaders across Georgia as part of the GBMB’s Pastor Wellness emphasis.
Chris Reynolds, lead strategist for GBMB Pastor Wellness, said the position reflects the board’s commitment to caring for ministry families.
“Ministry wives carry an integral and often unseen responsibility in the life of the church,” Reynolds said. “They are not simply supporting ministry—they are living it.”
“The role of a ministry wife is vital to the health of the church and the home,” he added. “When a ministry wife walks in spiritual and physical health, it strengthens her husband, steadies the home, and blesses the body of Christ in lasting ways. That is why caring for ministry wives is a priority within Pastor Wellness.”
Reynolds said Ford brings personal experience and credibility to the role.
“We are excited to welcome Melanie Ford as our Ministry Wives Coordinator,” he said. “Melanie brings both compassion and competence to this role, shaped by her experience as a wife, mom, and ministry leader.”
“Melanie understands ministry life personally,” Reynolds continued. “Her husband, Cameron, serves as the pastor of Green Acres in Athens, and together they know the joys and challenges that come with pastoral ministry. Having a pastor’s wife leading ministry to ministry wives brings credibility, empathy, and wisdom that is invaluable.”
Ford said her own experience as a pastor’s wife has prepared her for this role.
“For the past 18 years, I have had the privilege of serving as a pastor’s wife alongside my husband, Cameron, and have experienced both the deep joys and the real challenges of ministry,” Ford said. “In the highest moments and the hardest seasons, it was the encouragement and presence of other ministry wives that God used to sustain me.”
She said the support she received from other ministry wives continues to guide her ministry.
“I stand on the shoulders of so many faithful ministry wives who prayed for me, encouraged me, and walked with me through every season,” Ford said. “Their faithfulness has shaped my calling, and it is my hope to honor them by serving well and faithfully.”
Ford said Pastor Wellness and the Georgia Baptist Mission Board have played a significant role in her own life.
“Pastor Wellness and the Georgia Baptist Mission Board have been an incredible gift to me, and it is a joy and calling to now walk with ministry wives across our state, reminding them they are not alone, deeply valued, and that their faithfulness matters,” she said.
Melanie and her husband, Cameron, have been married for nearly 19 years and have three children: Rhyan, 16; Mollianne, 13; and Minnie, 7. The family lives in Athens, where Cameron has served as senior pastor of Green Acres Baptist Church for nearly eight years.
Reynolds said the goal of ministering to the state’s ministry wives is clear. “It reflects our conviction that caring for pastors and ministry leaders means caring for their wives,” Reynolds said. “We want ministry wives to know they are seen, valued, and supported as they seek to live out God’s will with wisdom and spiritual understanding.”
