ANAHEIM, Calif. – A North Carolina pastor has been elected president of the 2023 Southern Baptist Convention Pastors’ Conference.

In the role, Daniel Dickard, pastor of Friendly Avenue Baptist Church in Greensboro, will plan next year’s pastors’ conference that will be held in conjunction with the SBC annual meeting in New Orleans.

“Daniel has a passion for the gospel, a desire to make disciples, and I believe he has a calling on his life to equip and encourage pastors,” said Jordan Easley in announcing earlier this year that he intended to nominate him for the position.

“He believes, like so many of us believe, that the SBC Pastors Conference should highlight the best of what it means to be a Southern Baptist,” he said. “It should spotlight diversity in church size, style, shape and geographical scope … but it should also be centered on our common mission and shared cooperative effort.”

Dickard, a graduate of North Greenville University, holds a master’s degree and a doctorate from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.

In a Baptist Press article earlier this year, Dickard said his goal for next year’s pastors’ conference is to “feed and encourage pastors and preachers through the faithful exposition of the Word.”
