Obituary: Ruth Carolyn Wilson, missionary and teacher

Ruth Carolyn Maguire Wilson, 80, of Cumming, GA passed away July 9, 2024. Ruth was born in Kansas City, MO to Ted and Violet Maguire. Mrs. Wilson was a teacher for 34 plus years. After her retirement as an educator Ruth went into the mission field spreading the gospel with her husband, Dr. Alvin Wilson. She took great joy in the lives of all she touched as a teacher, a mother and a Christian witness.

Ruth is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Dr. Alvin Wilson; daughter and son in-law, Angie and Steve Penley; son and daughter in-law, Philip and Lisa Wilson; grandchildren, Spencer and Kaitlyn Penley, Jonathan Penley, Sam Wilson, Ian Wilson; great-grandchildren, Abby-Grace, Ellie-Mae; sister, Mary Helen Whitaker; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and beloved friends.

Funeral services will be held 1 pm Saturday, July 13, 2024, at the First Baptist Church Cumming with Rev. Mickey Caison and Dr. Jim Akins officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Gardens in Cumming, GA. Mrs. Wilson will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Acts 1:8 Mission Offering at First Baptist Church Cumming, 1597 Sawnee Dr, Cumming, GA 30040 in honor of Mrs. Ruth Wilson.
