Sarah Ellington Stone, 19, of Blackshear, passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at her residence after a long and courageous medical battle. She had a number of serious medical conditions but faced her challenges with determination and a steadfast faith in Jesus Christ.
Affectionately known as “Sunshine”, Sarah was born on September 3, 2007, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Jesup, Georgia. From the earliest age, she loved music and learning to play the piano, violin, and guitar. Sarah had a beautiful singing voice which she frequently used to serve the Lord at her church, Emmanuel Baptist Church of Blackshear.
A member of the Pierce County Class of 2026, Sarah was a gifted writer and serious Bible student. She encouraged others through her social media platforms as well as speaking and writing regularly of her faith. The most important thing in her life was her relationship with Jesus Christ.
Sarah was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Barbara Barnes of Macon, GA.
Sarah is survived by her loving parents, Mike & Andrea Barnes Stone of Blackshear; a sister, Michaela Stone of Valdosta; and brothers, Andrew (Madison) Stone and Matthew Stone of Blackshear; maternal grandparents, Robert & Becky Barnes of Macon; her paternal grandparents, Duell & Mary Stone of Nashville, GA; three aunts, Teresa (Mike) Plymel of Valdosta, Lisa (Melvin) Blount of Nashville, GA, and Kelanie (Bobby) Stubbs of Barnesville, GA; an uncle, Michael (Tami) Barnes of Wears Valley, TN; and numerous cousins and other relatives. Sarah was blessed by countless special friends and Christian family at Emmanuel Baptist Church and churches around the country who loved and prayed for her. She and her family are especially grateful for her lifelong best friend, Miss Ana Claire Peacock, and “Aunt Sue” Page, who served as a loving caregiver since Sarah’s birth.
