Stay pure. That was the message for the more than 100 youth gathered in Mableton, Ga., last Saturday, Oct. 29. Organizers said the event’s aim was to encourage young people to live a life of purity centered on the Word.
The Hispanic students, ranging in age from sixth graders through high-schoolers, met at the Iglesia Hispana in Mableton, Ga., for the event. Pastor Edgar Montaño and others, including Rodrigo Texmaye, Wilmer Marin, Neftali Coronado and Charlie Quintero, organized the event and activities. David Cardoza, Middle Regions Consultant for the Georgia Baptist Mission Board, also attended.
Pastor Javier Lopez, whose church hosted the event, addressed the attendees, who participated in worship, teaching sessions and a panel discussion on maintaining their purity. The teaching topics included knowing their identity in Christ, relationships, and staying pure.
The kids came from several churches, including Amistad Cristiana in Gainesville and Flat Creek Baptist Church among others.
Montaño says the group would like to host similar conferences yearly, and already have begun planning for the next one in October 2023.
