MACON, Ga. – A Fayetteville pastor who serves in several key roles within the Georgia Baptist Convention has been elected chairman of the Executive Committee.

Josh Saefkow, pastor of Flat Creek Baptist Church, had served as the vice chairman for the past two years.

Elected at a meeting on Tuesday in Macon, Saefkow replaces Tommy Fountain Sr. who finished his two-year term as Executive Committee chairman on Tuesday.

"I'm honored to serve," Saefkow said. "I see great days ahead for Georgia Baptists."

Saefkow also serves on the Georgia Baptist Mission Board’s Public Affairs Committee and the Administration Committee.

He is a representative of the Fairburn Baptist Association on the Executive Committee.

Fountain led the Executive Committee through two difficult years with the global pandemic and with the financial struggles faced by the Mission Board.

Mark Marshall, assistant associate executive director of the Mission Board, presented Fountain with a plaque honoring him for his service.
