From the churches: Salem Baptist Church honors memory of Rodney Lee with a pavilion in his name

DALTON, Ga. — Salem Baptist Church dedicated a pavilion Sunday, Aug. 18, 2024, in memory of church member Rodney Lee. Lee, a teacher at Varnell Elementary School, died in 2021 of COVID-19.

Lee was a Sunday school teacher and deacon at Salem Baptist Church, and the P.E. teacher at Varnell Elementary School for 18 years. He was named Varnell Elementary's Teacher of the Year in 2018. He was also involved with the Baptist Builders and Disaster Relief.

The dedication featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony, worship, food, and the baptism of 10 believers.
