ROME, Ga. — The Shorter University Chorus is hosting a Night of Worship on Feb. 20 and would love to see you there.
This choir specializes in music for worship and the church. This concert will include pieces written by a variety of composers from Haydn to Shorter University alumnus Cliff Duren.
The Night of Worship will be held in Brookes Chapel at 7:30 p.m., and is free and open to the public.
In addition, the school announced the venues for the upcoming 2024 Shorter University Chorale Spring Tour.
Starting February 29, the Chorale will be traveling all over North Georgia, and even parts of Tennessee, to share the wonderful pieces they have put together.
Concerts will be presented:
Thursday, February 29, at 7:00 p.m. at Second Avenue Baptist Church, Rome, GA
Friday, March 1, at 7:00 p.m. at Red Bank Baptist Church, Chattanooga, TN
Saturday, March 2, at 7:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Ringgold, GA
Sunday, March 3, at 10:45 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Ellijay, GA
Monday, March 4, at 6:30 p.m. at Sonoraville Baptist Church, Calhoun, GA
Each concert is free and open to the public.
The concerts will feature music from composers such as Elaine Hagenberg, Eric Whitacre, and Sydney Guillaume. There will be a variety of styles from classical to Creole, and even worship.
The Shorter University Chorale is the premier choral ensemble of Shorter University and is open to students through audition. The Chorale is under the direction of Dr. Bryan McDonald, director of Choral Activities and coordinator of Music and Worship Leadership in Shorter University’s Edith Lester Harbin Department of Music.
