The theme for the 2022 Georgia Baptist Evangelism Conference is Until All Hear

The theme was born out of Acts 19:10 where Luke provides a summary statement of Paul’s ministry in Asia.  Luke writes, “And this continued for two years, so that all who dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.”

After preaching in the synagogues for three months and encountering hardened hearts and evil speaking, the Lord opened a door for Paul to proclaim the gospel in the school of Tyrannus (Acts 19:8–9).

The school of Tyrannus (v. 9) was either a lecture hall or a school building, as the term σχολῇ (scholē) suggests. This lecture hall was either owned by Tyrannus (otherwise unknown) or it was the location where Tyrannus as a local philosopher held class.

Regardless, as a public setting, the venue allowed for daily gospel discussions over a two-year period, which aided Paul in having a widespread impact amongst both Jews and Greeks.

It is believed that Paul spent the early morning working (cf. 20:34; 1 Cor. 4:12), and the middle of the day teaching and debating when the majority of people were available.

Theologian Darrell Bock, in his in-depth look at the Book of Acts, said: “The scene is credible for a dedicated, hard worker, as Paul obviously was.”

So effective was Paul’s ministry in this location that the gospel spread throughout the province of Asia, on the west coast of modern-day Turkey. During this period the churches at Colossae, Laodicea, and Hierapolis were planted (Col. 4:13), and some believe all seven churches from Revelations chapters 2 and 3 were planted at this time as well. Therefore, out of Ephesus came a ministry that impacted the entire Lycus valley!

It is our desire to have a similar impact in our day in Georgia! Hence the theme, Until All Hear! Our prayer is that the Lord will use the 2022 Georgia Baptist Evangelism Conference to both encourage and equip pastors, staff, leaders, and church members alike toward this end!

Georgia is our home field, and the light that shines the furthest always shines the brightest at home first!  So, let’s own Georgia Until All Hear!
