According to the Intelligent.com’s 2020 Best Master of Arts in Theology rankings, Truett McConnell University (TMU) ranks as the Best for Women’s Studies concentration in the region.
“There are times where the world claims biblical topics as its own, and the job of a Christian University is to reclaim them for Christ,” said Dr. Maël Disseau, Dean for The Balthasar Hubmaier School of Theology and Missions. “Thanks to the hard work of Dr. Candi Finch, our women’s studies program reclaims women’s studies from a Biblical perspective.”
To be considered for the subject rankings, Intelligent.com assessed more that 150 colleges and universities that are regionally accredited and offer at least one fully online degree in a given subject for the degree level on the list. Criteria based on five factors of program strength, student readiness, return on investment, cost, and student engagement, were used to evaluate each school’s program.
The Master of Arts in Theology degree at TMU provides a foundation of knowledge and skills in the areas of classical theological studies and applied ministry. Specifically, the Women’s Studies concentration is targeted to women in ministry or secular fields who desire to understand God’s unique and beautiful plan for men and women and engage the movement of secular and religious feminism with hard facts and legitimate scholarship.
“We provide the same components of the average secular program (classes on womanhood, feminism, and women’s history, supplemented with practical hands-on classes), but provide them from a Biblical perspective so that our students can be empowered by God’s truth and be equipped to train the next generation of women to seek after God’s own heart,” added Disseau.
“What an honor for TMU’s Master of Arts in Theology with a Concentration in Women’s Studies to be recognized,” said Dr. Candi Finch, Associate Professor of Theology in Women’s Studies.
“This concentration equips women to engage the cultural issues of our day from a biblical worldview. We desperately need women who love God’s Word and are passionate about seeing the world transformed by God’s life-giving message.”
