Truett McConnell beats St. Andrews 94-75 on senior day

CLEVELAND, Ga. — On Wednesday, the Truett McConnell University men's basketball team hosted St. Andrews University for an Appalachian Athletic Conference match-up, where the Bears recorded a big win over the Knights, 94-75. TMU rises to an overall score of 11-16, 9-14 AAC, while SAU falls to a record of 5-20, 3-20 AAC.
 
In the first half, SAU was first on the board taking a marginal lead over the Bears by seven points. TMU finally found success with a good three-pointer by EJ Smith that jump-started the Bears' momentum over the Knights. The Bears quickly took control of the game with a three-pointer by KJ Riley and a layup by Jadon Yeh. Eager to increase the gap, TMU put up seven more points, featuring layups by Raul Arias-Ortega and Cory Seitz, followed by three-pointers by Yeh and Riley. The Bears continued to prove to be a tough competitor, increasing the scoring margin by 22 points as two final good free throws by Riley, sent TMU into the half leading 50-28.
 
The second half saw the visiting team once again on the board, with the Bears responding with two consecutive three-pointers by Riley. The Bears continued to lead the Knights as layups by CJ Brown, Anderson Mwasele and Akil Covington increased TMU's lead to 24 points. A last-chance effort by SAU attempted to recover from the Bears' strong performance but was ultimately unsuccessful as layups by Jerry Meder and Kevin Hull, sealed the deal on a Bears win with a final score of 94-75.
 
Riley led the way for the Bears, recording a double-double of 24 points and ten rebounds. Yeh followed with 14 points, while Brown had a double-double, with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Arias-Ortega was featured recording 10 points, while Smith had eight points and Covington had seven points. Cory Seitz was seen contributing six points and six assists, respectfully.
