Truett McConnell basketball program hosts summer camp, registration open now

CLEVELAND, Ga. — The Truett McConnell University basketball program will be hosting the Truett McConnell Basketball Camp at the White County Middle School for boys on June 24-27, and girls on July 8-11.

The camp will include instruction on the fundamentals of the game, including proper shooting form, footwork, ball handling and dribbling skills, passing, basic and advanced scoring moves, team offensive concepts, individual defense, and character-driven lessons. The camp is open to all rising 3^rd-9^th grade boys and girls. Registration is now open and will be open until sold out, with a $160 registration fee per player. Sibling discounts are available.

Commentary: First things first

To me, the idea of “first things first” has always made beautiful sense. Therefore, one might ask, “Just what is the first thing I should do?” There is one act that eclipses all other things in importance that one might possibly do on earth, and it must be done while living on earth. And that one most important of all things is trusting Jesus Christ as Savior through sincere belief in Him as God and in calling on Him for salvation.

A fire in a school in Kenya kills 17 students and seriously burns 13 others

NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) — A fire in a school dormitory in Kenya killed 17 students and seriously burned 13 others, police said Friday. There are fears that the death toll may rise, police said.
