ATLANTA — Former President Donald Trump won Georgia’s 16 electoral votes Tuesday on his way to winning a stunning re-election. The former president reversed his 2020 loss to President Joe Biden in the state, narrowly defeating Vice President Kamala Harris.

With all precincts reporting, Republican Trump won 50.8% of the vote in the Peach State to 48.5% for Democrat Harris, according to unofficial results reported by the Secretary of State's office. Trump received over 117,00 votes more than Harris. In 2020, he lost Georgia to Biden by a margin of just under 12,000 votes.

In other races, Georgia's congressional delegation will look the same, with Republicans maintaining a 9-5 edge. Incumbents Rep. Lucy McBath, D-Marietta, and Rep. Rich McCormick, R-Suwanee,  both won after swapping districts when the legislature redrew electoral boundaries. The closest race was in District 2, where Democratic incumbent Rep. Sanford Bishop defeated challenger A. Wayne Johnson with 56.3% of the vote.

The makeup of the state Senate also remained unchanged as every incumbent candidate won re-election. Republicans maintain their 33-23 advantage in the chamber.

Georgia voters overwhelmingly approved a pair of tax-relief measures, while narrowly approving a third tax-related proposal.

Constitutional Amendment One, which would limit local governments' ability to raise property tax assessments passed with nearly 63% of the vote. Under the amendment, cities, counties, and school districts can opt out of the provision, but only after advertising its intent to do so and holding at least three public hearings.

Referendum Question A to increase the exemption on Georgia’s personal property tax from $7,500 to $20,000 garnered the support of 64.4% of voters.

A second constitutional amendment calling for the creation of a state tax court was approved with only 51.9% of the vote.
