VIDEO: Watch more than 1,000 gather for prayer at Coffee County courthouse

Christians from around Coffee County joined in prayer Aug. 10 in response to an ongoing prayer movement in the area, and a video of nearly 27 minutes of the event has been posted to YouTube.

In the first minute of the video First Baptist Church, Douglas Associate Pastor John Butler can be seen in an interview with WALB News out of Albany.

Estimates of the crowd range from 1,200 to 1,500, according to organizers, and featured members of churches across denominations and ethnicities around the courthouse steps in Douglas. The purpose for the prayer gathering, pointed out the Coffee County Ministerial Association, was to pray for America's leaders and revival among its people. The association, made up of ministers across local denominations, promotes five points:

  • United we stand in Christ to declare America's only hope is Jesus Christ.
  • United we stand in Christ to pray for revival in America's churches.
  • United we stand in Christ to defend biblical marriage.
  • United we stand in Christ to build biblical families.
  • United we stand in Christ to protect our First Amendment rights.

Another prayer rally is being planned for Oct. 8, 12-2 p.m. at Liberty Plaza in Atlanta, across the street from the state capitol building.
