When people hear the terms "sin" and "city" they typically think of a locale where what happens there, stays there. And justly so, Las Vegas and two of its suburbs recently placed in the top six of the most sinful cities in America.
The seven factors in
the study by WalletHub mirror the seven deadly sins of lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy, and pride. In the study, the website reported from metrics related to anger and hatred, jealousy, excesses and vices, greed, lust, vanity, and laziness.
Three Georgia municipalities found their way into the list of 182 cities.
In the comprehensive rankings, Atlanta placed as the nation's 25th most-sinful city. Georgia's capital rated sixth in "Vanity" and eighth in "Jealousy." It ranked 84th in the "Lust" category, despite being third in most adult entertainment establishments per capita.
The study put Augusta in the 84th slot. Among specific categories, the city ranked 37th in "Laziness" and 41st in "Lust."
Columbus was the only other Georgia city featured in the report, placing 143rd. When it came to charitable giving, though, the seat of Muscogee County placed favorably. In a section charting charitable donations as a percentage of income (with the top spot noting the lowest givers), the city tied for 147th with Montgomery, AL.
The study by WalletHub targeted America's 150 most-populated cities, plus at least two more from each state.
