At Penfield Ken Klun ministered to those caught in addiction

Kenneth Klun served for 30 years as a drug and alcohol counselor at Penfield Christian Home. Kenneth Klun served for 20 years as a drug and alcohol counselor at Penfield Christian Home.

Ken Klun, longtime drug and alcohol counselor at Penfield Christian Home as well as pastor, died July 22 of complications from a stroke. He was 74.

Klun was a native of Milwaukee, WI who lived in north Alabama and New Orleans before making Greene County and the Athens area his home for the last 30 years. A New Orleans Seminary graduate, Klun served as an area minister while at Penfield. Meanwhile, he continued as a member of Beech Haven Baptist Church in Athens.

More than 20 years at Penfield

Klun retired from the Georgia Baptist Mission Board, where he served as assistant program director for Penfield, ministering for more than 20 years to those addicted to drugs and alcohol.

Survivors include a brother, Rick; sons Jeff and Todd; a granddaughter, and two great-granddaughters.
