Supporters say the measure is needed because members of county election boards must swear statements that results are accurate and need to be able to adequately assure themselves that the totals are correct before doing so.

ATLANTA – The Port of Brunswick had a better year than the Port of Savannah, the Georgia Ports Authority reported Tuesday. Brunswick handled a record 876,000 units of Roll-on/Roll-off cargo, including autos and heavy machinery, during fiscal 2024, which ended June 30. The site – cancelmyregistration.sos.ga.gov – lets voters who are moving or opting out of voter registration to notify their county registrar that they want their registration canceled.

Warren King was sentenced to death in September 1998 after an Appling County jury convicted him of murdering Karen Crosby, a convenience store clerk who was fatally shot during an armed robbery in southeast Georgia.

ALTO, Ga. (AP) — Sheriff's deputies who were serving a warrant in another county shot and killed two people in northeast Georgia on Tuesday. The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said deputies were serving an arrest warrant on a sex offender for violating the conditions of his probation in the Banks County town of Alto.

ATLANTA – Georgia voters will be getting help from veterans on Election Day this year, Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger announced Tuesday. Raffensperger’s office will partner with Vet the Vote, a new nationwide organization that recruits veterans and members of their families to serve as volunteer poll workers.
