CHATSWORTH — Liberty Baptist Church in the Dalton-Chatsworth area has been one of the leading churches in north Georgia for decades. Under the pastoral leadership of Brian Branam, the church is now one congregation that exists in three locations.
Branam served as pastor of churches in Tennessee and Alabama prior to coming to Liberty in February 2012. During his pastorate the church has grown in attendance and giving and averaged 50 baptisms each year. Liberty’s Celebrate Recovery ministry, now on two of the church’s campuses, is one of the largest CR ministries in the Southeastern U.S. The lead Liberty pastor is a creative and powerful preacher, an effective teacher, and published author.
Ministry across north Georgia
The campus pastor for Liberty Spring Place is Mark Seay, who trusted Christ as his savior as a teenager, married his best friend, Tammy, in 1994, was called into ministry in 1997, and served in children’s education and pastoral ministries prior to becoming campus pastor at Liberty Spring Place after it was launched in April 2017.
Ryan Ralston is the campus pastor of Liberty Fort Oglethorpe. Ryan is a product of Liberty’s youth group, was called into full-time Christian service, and subsequently served in the student ministry of the church. His wife, Shasta, also grew up in the church and became the pastor’s secretary before she and Ryan were married at Liberty. They moved to New Orleans where Ryan continued his preparation for the ministry at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He was called by Liberty to be the pastor at the Fort Oglethorpe campus in January 2016.
Under the leadership of Branam the church has grown to an average attendance of approximately 700-800 on the three campuses and the Dalton Liberty church relocated in April from 4443 Tibbs Bridge Road S.E. in Dalton to 4221 Highway 76 in Chatsworth. The new church facility is strategically located approximately three miles from the old campus on the primary thoroughfare between Chatsworth and Dalton.
The new building containing 52,500 square feet of floor space has a beautiful worship center, offices, preschool suite, approximately 25 classrooms, and youth space on the third floor yet to be completed as well as space for a kitchen and fellowship area also yet to be completed. The $4.2 million facility sits on 17 acres of prime property and is poised for even more significant growth.
