Justin Nalls called as next lead pastor at Macon's Ingleside Baptist Church

MACON, Ga. — Ingleside Baptist Church in Macon announced Dr. Justin Nalls as its next lead pastor Sunday after a nine-month search.

Ingleside’s Pastor Search Committee and Board of Overseers recommended Dr. Nalls as the lead pastor candidate on Feb. 15 via a church e-newsletter and video. The church body voted him in as its next lead pastor on Sunday at an afternoon called church conference.

Johnny Mitchell, Ingleside’s Overseer Board chairman says that Justin “is a gifted teacher and preacher with over ten years of experience across every generation at Ingleside. We believe the Lord has prepared Justin to be our next lead pastor.”

Additionally, Alex Correa, the chairman of the Pastor Search Committee said that “we firmly believe Justin’s gifts, character, calling, and experience align perfectly for Ingleside’s next chapter, and we see this process as one filled with answers to this church body’s prayers.”

Dr. Nalls served as Ingleside’s middle school pastor from 2013-2019 and currently serves as the next generation team leader and teaching pastor. He will begin his role as lead pastor on July 1, serving as the sixth lead pastor of Ingleside.

Dr. Nalls expressed great optimism about this opportunity saying, “I am humbled to be called as the next lead pastor of such a great church. I am extremely optimistic about the future of Ingleside and what the Lord may choose to do in and through this church in the days ahead. We want to continue to have an impact on our community, our state, and even other parts of the country and the world.”

Earning his Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Wales (Spurgeon’s College), Dr. Nalls, also holds a Master of Theology from Duke Divinity School and a Master of Divinity from Beeson Divinity School at Samford University.

Dr. Nalls has been married to his wife, Cassie, for 18 years. They have four children.

Dr. Tim McCoy has served as the lead pastor at Ingleside for more than 34 years, beginning on September 4, 1989. His final day as Ingleside’s lead pastor will be June 30.

Ingleside was begun on December 23, 1951, and continues to be wholeheartedly committed to its mission: “to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the glory of God.”
