Marty Guy has been named the new church planting catalyst for the West Metro Baptist Association.

Guy, together with his family, previously served as an IMB missionary to East Asia, primarily focused on church planting among the Hmong people group. He additionally has served on staff at several of the West Metro Association churches. He and his wife, Karen, have four children.

“I am very excited about bringing Marty on staff to provide focused leadership in church planting throughout West Metro,” said Dr. Jason Loudermilk, mission strategist for the West Metro association. “Marty brings a wealth of church planting experience along with experience in cross-cultural and multi-cultural contexts. He will be a great asset to our association as we seek to reach the unchurched in our region.”

The West Metro Baptist Association is comprised of churches in Douglas, Cobb, and Paulding counties. The entire area has seen massive population increases over the past decade and major changes demographically throughout that time, as well.

Loudermilk said many of the churches in the association have had difficulty reaching the new population segments, and there is a need for new church plants to be focused on these unreached areas.

Additionally, he said, the current resident to church ratio in the area is 6,000 to 1.

“Simply put, there is a tremendous need for new churches in the area reaching people of all ages and ethnicities,” Loudermilk said.

“I am excited to be able to combine a call and passion for church planting with a burden to see the kingdom multiply in my hometown,” Guy said. “I hope to be able to partner with and equip existing churches to plant new churches in order to reach the transitioning communities of West Metro.”
