Popularity of Georgia’s ACTS2 streaming service continues to grow

DULUTH, Ga. – Southern Baptists across the nation are capitalizing on ACTS2, a streaming service created by the Georgia Baptist Mission Board, to broadcast state-level annual meetings to the masses.

“It’s just one more way ACTS2 seeks to be the place where all Southern Baptists are ‘together in one place’ as the Bible says in Acts 2:1,” said programming director Jon Graham.

California, Indiana, Mississippi, Missouri and New York wrapped up annual meetings in recent days that were broadcast on ACTS2. In coming days, Alabama, Arizona, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, North Carolina and Tennessee will do the same.

Southern Baptist Convention leaders also used ACTS2 to broadcast their annual meeting that was held in Anaheim, Calif., in June. And ACTS2 will be on site in New Orleans to do the same next summer.

“It’s been a joy to see Southern Baptists from all around the country celebrate the work of God happening through these state conventions,” Graham said.

ACTS2 is being viewed in all 50 U.S. states and in 46 foreign countries.

It's only the latest cutting-edge creation from the Georgia Baptist Mission Board, which recognizes the important role mass media can play in reaching the world with the gospel and in allowing Southern Baptists to gather remotely for important events, like the SBC annual meeting.

In the television world where adult themes often find their way even into sitcoms and gameshows, Graham said believers appreciate having an alternative that offers authentically Christian and theological sound programming.

“I wanted to find programs that inspired and entertained a vast audience but with solid theology, something that is often missing in Christian programming,” he said when ACTS2 was unveiled last November. “I thought this would work because there is an obvious void of a Southern Baptist voice in the broadcast world.”

ACTS2 is producing popular programs, like SBC Coast to Coast, which showcases the work of Southern Baptists.

“Southern Baptists need some reminders of the good that is being done and the lives that are being changed every day,” Graham said after the rollout of SBC Coast to Coast.  “They need a reminder that Southern Baptists have a local, state, national and global impact.”

ACTS2 has compiled a strong lineup of hundreds of other programs, including Season 1 of The Chosen, a TV series depicting the life of Christ and his disciples.

The ACTS2 streaming service is available at the iOS APP store, Google Play (Android) store, Amazon’s fireTV, Roku and on the web.
